Collet Pins
While standard machine bucket pins are made to the highest standards of material and process they do have one inherent failing, clearances are required between the pin and the bucket hinge bores to allow for assembly and solutions to extend the life of this type of the joint are limited. These include retaining the pin to prevent rotation in the hinge plates and lubrication systems to the lift arm bearing. The accumulated effect of a pin rotating 1 degree hundreds of times a day can takes years off the life of pins and housing and is one of the key elements in the life of a joint. Corrosion, wear and impact loads result in these clearance increasing and hence accelerating wear on the hinge plate bores and in time damage to the pin.
If close tolerance and pin retention do not provide the life required Gough Engineering is able to supply a Collet lock Pin system for buckets.
The pins are made from induction-hardened material and are machined on a CNC lathe and plated for ease of disassembly.
