Gough Engineering builds buckets from its standard range and custom designed buckets to suit specific applications and customer requirements. Custom design products include features such as specific widths, upgrade GET and upgraded material thickness and grade.
Bucket descriptions are generally based on application and with the addition of a quick coupler machine utilization and efficiency can be optimised by selection of a suitable bucket. Buckets are identified by a code that includes the machine hinge family group and the nominal cutting width. An example of this is a "B1260 Bucket" where the digging width is 1260mm and the bucket fits a B-Family Linkage.
Gough Engineering manufactured buckets fall in the 4 main groups, which include sub groups and options. The basic styles are shown in each section but should more specific information be required this can be supplied on request.
Cleaning Bucket
The cleaning bucket is used mainly for preparation of surfaces and bulk handling of materials. It is the number 1 attachment bucket on smaller machines and can be supply in widths to suit customer's applications. Sizes and generally listed as 6ft, 6ft 6" and 7ft which is the width of the base edge. The profile of the bucket is smaller than most other buckets as working in a confined space and good visibility around the bucket are priorities. Wear strips on the back of the bucket are supplied as standard.
This type of bucket can be supplied with or without internal ribs. In the case of Gough Engineering buckets the internal ribs are an extension of the hinge plate to providing support for the base edge. Another option includes bolt on edges which can be reversed.
Bulk Handing Bucket
This type of bucket is used to move or re-handle materials that are not compacted or have a low density. Gough Engineering builds three styles:
The standard bulk-handling bucket is based on a standard digging bucket profile with a width about twice that of a digging bucket.
As well a heavy-duty version of this bucket includes internal ribs and weld-on adapters. Tips can be supplied to suit applications as well as a bolt on edge option.
The third type has a larger profile and a narrower width that is suited to loading hoppers or over the tailgate of a truck. This type of bucket can also be fitted with a bolt on cutting edge to improve the life of the buckets base edge.
Digging Buckets
Digging buckets are supplied to specific widths for trenching applications with the minimum width generally determined by the width of the hinges for each machine. Buckets can be supplied with a width narrower than the hinges but these buckets are only suitable for shallow trenches where the hinge assembly is above ground level.
These buckets are generally supplied with GET parts that are standard for the size of machine but they can be upgraded or the number of adapters change to suit customers requirements. Tips can also be specified, refer to Caterpillar GET information for selection and application criteria.
Rock Buckets
Rock Buckets have two styles, straight edge and spade edge where increased penetration is required. Construction is similar to a digging bucket except the material thickness increases a material size and side bar protectors replace side cutters when required. Adaptors increase in size and the number used is decreased. These buckets are designed for the most severe rock conditions and include wider wear plates on the underside of the bucket.
If an option from our standard range doesn't suit, Gough Engineering is able to customize an existing product to a customers specifications or build a different style of bucket
