Goughs Engineering has developed a low profile Concrete Batch Plant to be easily transportable and provide the minimum of installation cost and time. This style of Batch Plant has become increasingly popular as it is capable of suppling concrete under a variety of situations while maintaining flexibility on site location. Traditional Batch plants have been situated in central locations or close to the source of raw materials. Often the reason for site selection changes but due to the high cost of relocation it is not practical to move. The Goughs Engineering approach is to provide a plant that can be used in a number of ways but principally as a regional plant that services a small town and the surrounding area or as a satellite plant in an expanding urban area where traffic congestion and travel times result in high delivery cost. Another application is where an existing large plant requires increased capacity due to a special project that has a limited time. At the project's conclusion the Goughs Batch plant can be easily relocated.
The Goughs Engineering Low Profile plant can be specified to your requirements, it is flexible enough to be fully self contained or integrated to existing cement storage and reticulation supplies such an electricity and compressed air. The main options are single or double aggregate bins, cement silo capacity and control systems. A second aggregate bin can be added at a later date if required and the cement weight hopper can be supplied from 2 silos. One unique feature is that the main conveyor can be folded for shipping reducing the cost of transport, Batch Plants are fully assembled including all the necessary wiring and plumbing before shipping reducing site work to positioning and connection to a power supply. For more permanent sites a ramp, control room and storage bins can be planned and built before the plant is installed. There is no requirement for special foundations for both the batch plant or the silo so a temporary installation and operation of the plant can commence until a permanent location is available.
Concrete batching plant in demand in Rarotonga
A Rarotonga based business, Concrete Systems Ltd, is well-placed to meet demand in the construction industry since taking delivery of a 5m3 concrete batching plant built by Goughs Engineering. The region is know for it devastating 300km/h cyclones, under these conditions building construction and design are truly put to the test. Another use of concrete in the area is for breakwaters that provide coastal protection.

The plant included features such as a cement de-bagger above the cement weigh and the main conveyor was supplied in sections to reduce freight costs. It was built and assembled in Christchurch, then broken down and packed to compact the unit before shipping from Auckland to the Pacific island. Bill Cannell, Operations and Projects Manager, oversaw its assembly and commissioning and it is now being put to use meeting several orders for concrete needed for warehouses and houses.
The batching plant ensures Concrete Systems Ltd can supply concrete mixed to exactly the right recipe required for Rarotonga's busy construction sector.
Goughs also supplied a generator set, skid steer loader, new mixing bowls for second-hand trucks and a second-hand Cat loader to the company. Bill said batching plants have been despatched on previous occasions to other parts of the Pacific, including Fiji and Tahiti.
